EveryAware project – AirProbe PC Sync application

AirProbe PC Sync

AirProbe PC Sync is the air quality application developed for EveryAware project and for users that do not have an Android smartphone and that cannot use the AirProbe  application.

This application can be used on any Windows PC and can transfer data recorded by the SensorBox during the day to the EveryAware server.

Its main features are the following:

  • Connect to a SensorBox using Bluetooth
  • Transfer data to sensorBox to EveryAware Server
  • Locally store data in case of network problems
  • Attempt to upload cache at startup
  • Several option allows the application to be used from fully manual to fully automated mode.

AirProbe PC Sync allow to use the EveryAware SensorBox as standalone device.

For more information please read the full article, or download the full user guide.

If you have an Android smartphone, you may want to take a look at the AirProbe Android app.

Note: AirProbe application requires an external Bluetooth device (the EveryAware sensor box) to work.

Air quality monitoring on GTT electric bus

GTT Star 1The MASP (Monitoraggio Aree Sensibili e Protette) project was completed on February 28th 2013 and as final step it has been installed a mobile testbed  on the electric bus of the company Gruppo Torinese Trasporti (GTT).  This project  aims at the development of an air quality monitoring system for sensible and protected areas. The MASP system is made of fixed and mobile nodes that cooperates in a distributed environment.

This testbed realizes an acquisition system in an outdoor environment using a vehicle that runs periodically a default route. Thanks to an agreement with the company Gruppo Torinese Trasporti (GTT), it has been possible to achieve this functionality by using electric bus that cover Star 1 and Star 2 lines. This vehicle has the characteristic of being equipped with an electric engine, which does not emit polluting gases that could interfere with surveys taken by sensors. In his paths, the bus crosses several areas of interest (in terms of sensibility) such as the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) in the center of Turin and areas characterized by high traffic density.

A gateway operating in data-proxy mode, able to receive data from a vehicle and forward them to the server has been installed on the roof of the Polytechnic of Turin. When the bus passes through the area illuminated by the antenna of that gateway, all data collected by the bus are sended to a data server.

t4A project – Tools For Autism Android tablet app

t4A

[Tools For Autism]

Tools For Autism is an application, developed as part of the Touch For Autism (t4A) project, for 10″ and 7″ tablets with Android 4.0 and sup. The aim is to provide a useful tool to help the teaching of behavioral patterns (social stories) and sequences of operations (tasks analysis) to people affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that can benefit from the manageability of a mobile touch screen based device such as tablets, and the possibility to customize the contents and ways to use them.

Gnuradio on Odroid-X

Odroid-X board

The GNU Radio SDR toolkit has been cross-compiled to the ARM architecture and executed on an Odroid-X board running Linaro, a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu 12.10.
A USRP device has been connected to the Odroid and interfaced through its UHD device driver. First experiments show that GNU Radio on Odroid is capable of supporting sample rates of over 5MHz while executing fairly complex signal processing algorithms.

Embedding interactive data into an audiovisual content by watermarking:

Digital watermarking is the process of computer-aided information hiding in a carrier signal like audio, pictures, video, texts or 3D models. These methods may be used to verify the authenticity or integrity of the carrier signal or to show the identity of its owners and emphasize protecting the royalties

In this project, developed in collaboration [...]
