This area covers all technologies related to distributed applications, user interaction, media converging and content security. The activities are organized in three distinc laboratories that are focused on specific research topics.
Research Labs
W3LAB
A research laboratory focused on user interaction and distributed computing technologies. The laboratory has a strong competence in development of mobile and web applications and surface (i.e. multitouch) computing. Currently the main focus is on the following topics:
- Big Data
- Artificial Vision
- Immersive Interfaces
SecureLAB
A research laboratory focused on conetnt security tecnologies. The laboratory has an historic competence about Public Key Infrastructures, Digital Signature and Strong Encription related technologies. Actually the main focus of the laboratory is about the use of digital watermarking and conditional access systems (for both broadcasting and IP television systems).
DTVLAB
A research laboratory focused on technologies related to digital interactive television. The laboratory starded with the experimentation of digital interactive application and services based on digital terrestial technologies (DVB-T), developing a specific competence on MHP (Multimedia Home Platform). Actually the main focus is on the following topics:
- IP Television and IP Radio
- Digital Broadcasting
- 3D (stereoscopic) television
- Connected/Smart Television
